I thought about putting this in scraps, since it's really just a bit of silliness, but it's too darn cute.

Between rereading the archives and trying to convince Syke of my coloring skills, I've had Alien Dice on the brain (not hard since it's my favorite web comic in the first place). Now that I'm working on art again I keep thinking of fan art I want to make for it. This time I had the random thought, if Lexx and Chel ever manage to get together, (and if things can go right for them for longer than the usual 30 seconds), what would their eventual kids look like? This thought of course led to cute little Rishan/Terran hybrids (Rishan/Human wouldn't really be accurate, since Risha are a subspecies of human) and a baby Sallomandyr (who may or may not be from a future Zespy clutch). I emphasized the Rishan traits a bit, since they tend to be dominant.

Wow, that's a lot of parentheses.

Anyway, I started out just drawing a couple of kids who mixed Lexx's and Chel's features, but I messed up on the lineart and, instead of redrawing it, decided to instead trace it and fix it in Photoshop, which of course took hours on end because I am a perfectionist. And of course this started out as a little doodle and then took me ten hours because I didn't want to redraw it. (I don't think it was actually ten hours, but it felt like it.) Working on the lineart (with a mouse nonetheless, I'm a glutton for punishment) gave my mind plenty of time to continue to wander, so I ended up coming up with names and such for them.

I feel silly about it, but I couldn't help it. I call the boy Alexander (Xander for short, since the family already has a Lexx) and the girl Dana (since all the women in Chel's families have names ending in "a" -- Chelsea, Melissa, Andrea...). Their surname would be Shira-Reid (whether it comes before or after their personal names depends on who you ask and what planet they're on). Xander has Chel's eyes, Lexx's complexion, Melissa's hair, and when he's older may have the misfortune of Victor's nose. Dana has her mother's complexion, her father's hair and eyes, and her Uncle Riley's sense of humor. Xander takes after his father a lot and tends to be a pretty serious little guy. In their teens, Dana will change her name to Haley (after Halley's Comet) in a successful attempt to confuse her mother, and Xander will become irrationally angry whenever he hears the word "smurf". <end silliness>

I can almost hear that poor little sallomandyr thinking, "Why me?"
